Wonders of Light
15th Annual Rotary Storyfest
Yakima Valley Museum, June 2-4, 2010
Nancy Stewart and MaryLee Sunseri return to the museum with a storytelling and song program called Wonders of Light, designed to help students learn about natural and artifical light. From starlight to sunlight, candelight to neon, light is part of our everyday lives.
Students will learn about the role light has played in the history of Yakima, including agriculture and urban development, and how light can be used in the future in energy conservation and new technologies. Nancy and MaryLee will present both traditional songs and many which were written specifically for this venue.
Wonders of Light is a program of storytelling and music designed for students which helps fulfill the Museum's education mission. Thanks to the sponsorship of the Yakima Sunrise Rotary Club, all performances are free. Seating, however, is limited and fills up quickly. Please contact the Yakima Valley Museum Education Department at (509)248-0747 to reserve a time for your class. To reduce disturbances during this event, your class must arrive on time and remain for the entire program. The museum exhibits will be open before and after the program.
Children and their families are invited to a special public performance on Friday evening at 7:00 P.M. Reservations are not needed for the Friday evening performance. |
