Activities in the Children's Underground
As part of the weekend Holiday program in the Yakima Valley Museum and the H.M. Gilbert Homeplace, children may participate in holiday craft activities in the Children's Underground. Participation in these activities is free and open to the public

Durante las presentactiones musicales, habrá un bazar de artesanías nadiveñas en el sector dedicado a los niños, ubicado en el subsuelo del museo. Todas estas actividades son abiertas al público y gratiuitas.

The Magic of Masks  
A joint effort of Allied Arts and the Yakima Valley Museum.  The women of La Casa Hogar will present El Baile de los Viejitos (the dance of the little old men) at 1pm.  A mask, costume, and statuettes from El Baile del los Viejitos are currently featured in the exhibit Morelia- Yakima’s Sister City.  Following the dance, art instructors from Allied Arts will teach Mask-Making – just in time for Halloween!  Admission to this event is free.  The Saturday Specials program is made possible through a grant from Legends Casino.

The Space Spot, from the Pacific Science Center, is packed with a dynamic line-up of lively, interactive science exhibits designed to excite the senses, ignite interest and stimulate imaginations. Visitors can discover how much they weigh on different planets, hold a meteorite in their hands, enjoy story time at the Book Nook or interact with your staff at the Discovery Cart. This exhibition is also one of the first in the country to feature both the CosmOdyssey portable projecion system and dome. The dome is equipped with a convenient vertical entry way for easier visitor accessibility.

July 28-30, 2004 (Wednesday - Friday)
Special access for summer student programs
The Space Spot may be reserved for summer student programs. Up to 27 students will enjoy a 20 minute planetarium show, with additional time for experiencing the hands-on exhibits. The following times may be reserved for no more than 54 students: 9:30 - 10:30, 11:00 - 12:00 & 1:00 - 2:00

Monkeyshines: Kid's Day at the Museum
This special family event sponsored by CANCCY (Child Abuse/Neglect Coordinating Council of Yakima) will feature many free hands-on activities provided by local community organizations and businesses. Visitors will enjoy the Space Spot exhibits inside the museum, and enjoy additional activities in Franklin Park. This event is free and open to the public.

Planetarium shows will be held at 10:30, 11:30 (in Spanish), 1:00.and 2:00
