Ivory Silk & Wool Blend Suit, Boy's
c1880-1890

Has large square sailor collar with 2 blue stars at back corner,
front dickie piece includes standup collar, anchor and chevrons
in blue, fits into front of neck w/hooks and eyes. Blouse on
top has drawstring at waist, slit pocket on left breast . Pants
have side buttons with small open fly, legs come below knee and
tie with drawstring, slit pockets each side. Entire garment lined
with fine cotton.
The sailor suit was a popular form of boy's clothes from 1880-1930.
Fabrics included silk, wool or cotton, and were white or navy
blue.
